Welcome to the Carolinas District of Kiwanis International! We are an eclectic mix of ages, genders, occupations, backgrounds and interests. We are all passionate about making our community and the world a better place for children so they can thrive. We are devoted to serving the children in our local communities and also children all across the country and worldwide through unique and innovative service projects and fundraising initiatives.
As your Governor this year, I’ve chosen the theme “10-4 Good Buddy”—a phrase where “10-4” means “understood” and “everything is okay.” It represents our commitment to truly hearing our communities’ needs and our confidence that together, we can make everything okay. Just as truckers rely on each other across the highways, we rely on each other across our communities to get the job done.
There’s an ancient Hebrew concept that has guided communities for centuries: tikkun olam, literally meaning “repairing the world.” This profound idea teaches us that each of us has a responsibility—not just to ourselves or our immediate families, but to the entire world around us. We are called to actively participate in healing what is broken, lifting up what has fallen, and creating justice where there is inequality. But here’s the crucial question: How do we transform this beautiful ideal into tangible action?
