Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world, one child and one community at a time.
The Carolinas District of Kiwanis International covers both North Carolina and South Carolina with about 130 Kiwanis clubs and 4,200 adult members.
Our Vision: Kiwanis will be a positive influence in communities worldwide…so that one day, all children will wake up in communities that believe in them, nurture them, and provide the support they need to thrive.
Our Mission: The Carolinas District of Kiwanis International is committed to improving the lives of children throughout North and South Carolina by ensuring that every community has the opportunity to be served by a strong, resilient, inclusive, and impactful Kiwanis club.
Our Guiding Principles:
Our role as a District is to create and support Kiwanis clubs and programs so that clubs can thrive and be a positive force for change in their communities. We do this by:
· developing and training leaders,
· providing education and motivation for members,
· developing resources for community involvement,
· establishing a network of support for crisis management, and
· establishing tools for effective management.
Governor’s Message: Racing to Service for Kids
Now more than ever, #KidsNeedKiwanis #CommunitiesNeedKiwanis
Wow! Before we have blinked an eye we are halfway through the Kiwanis year. I hope you have been busy asking that prospect to join your club, or maybe you have been getting that person to be the Membership Chair, or maybe you have been excited about the new service project your club just started, or maybe you have decided to run for a club or District office. OK, maybe you have been doing or thinking about something pertaining to Kiwanis. You get the idea – time is going fast and we do not need to be putting off for tomorrow what we should be doing today.
I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for all the work you have done to further the work of Kiwanis. But there is still so much to do. We still have three new clubs to build to reach our goal of four new clubs. We still have 8 new SLP’s to charter to reach our goal of 15. We still have 38 Membership Chairs to be reported to reach our goal of 70%. We still need over 500 new membership adds to reach our goal of 1000. We still have lots of service hours to complete to reach our goal of 5% more than last year. We still need every club to contribute at least $5 per member to both the Carolinas District Foundation and the Kiwanis Children’s Fund.
There is still so much to be done. Roll up your sleeves, see what your community needs and have FUN. Find Unfulfilled Needs. Be a part of this well-oiled Kiwanis machine that is improving the world one child and one community at a time. Do something good today. To steal a slogan from the Shriners – no person ever stood so tall as when they reached down to help a child.
Do your good deed for today. And then do it again tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day, as we Race to Service for Kids.
