Past Governor Tom Currier had a passion for membership growth. After he served as Governor in 2012-13, Kiwanis International asked him to serve as “The Formula” Regional Chair for Southeast USA between 2014 and 2018 and he was an integral part of membership growth. He also served as the Carolinas District Formula chair. (The Formula was a Kiwanis International multi-year initiative designed to have clubs and districts focus on membership – through the opening of new clubs and the strengthening of existing clubs.)
The Tom Currier Eagle Membership Awards are presented to clubs which have the most significant membership growth in a Kiwanis year by percentage and absolute numbers. Winners of this award are determined by the District based upon year-end membership data certified by Kiwanis International.
Prior to 2022, one award was presented each year for the highest percentage growth and for the highest absolute growth. Beginning in 2022, these awards were presented to clubs classified in four categories based upon their beginning of the year membership sizes: under 25 members, 26-50 members, 51-75 members, and 76+ members.
